Planning & Economic Development

The Planning and Economic Development Division plays a key role in shaping the future of new and infill development. The division develops guiding policies for the Town's long-range planning, strategic plan, and reviews new developments through bylaws, zoning regulations, and subdivision regulations.

Planning involves the complex interaction of individuals, business organizations, other advocacy groups, and developers, with appointed and elected Town officials and staff. The Town Manager appoints individuals to serve on the Planning Board, who decide on development projects under their jurisdiction. The Planning Division staff are employees that work with the Planning Board, Select Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Town Manager and appointed groups to administer the planning and economic development programs.

Our intent is to create and facilitate an effective partnership with residents and businesses in the community by providing a fair, objective, predictable, transparent and accountable planning process. We seek to ensure that Danvers continues to be a healthy, safe, attractive, and enjoyable place to live, work or visit.
