The Town of Danvers, Danvers Public Schools, and the Human Rights & Inclusion Committee brought Joan Trumpauer Mulholland and her son Loki Mulholland to Town on March 2. Joan is an award winning Civil Rights Activist, a Freedom Rider who crossed paths with MLK, Fannie Lou Hamer and other iconic leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. Her son Loki is an award winning filmmaker and author who captured her story and used his creativity to educate about race and social justice issues.
The Mulhollands began their day with an assembly for 8th graders at the Holten Richmond Middle School, a read along for 5th graders at Thorpe Elementary, and lunch with Civics students at Danvers High School. In the evening, they joined the Director of Equity and Inclusion for a community event.
